Joan is in her 80s. As she grew older, she needed help dressing herself and doing chores in her home. Eventually, Joan became immobile. She felt helpless and unable to do anything for herself. Joan had lost her independence.
Exercise every day
Joan decided that she wanted to regain her ability. She wanted to be able to walk around her home, prepare her own food, and attend a nearby church. Joan decided to try some Lifecurve reactivation exercises. She practiced the exercises every day with support and encouragement from her caregiver. Her LifeCurve position was measured every few weeks to follow her progress.
Incredibly, Joan regained her independence in six weeks! Just by following the exercises our experts recommended, Joan was able to improve her LifeCurve position dramatically. She went from needing help dressing herself to needing a little help showering. As her ability to walk around her home with a frame improved, her confidence grew until she was able to move around the kitchen and prepare food. She was even able to walk to the nearby church without help!
Joan decreased the need for her care by fifteen per cent in six weeks. Practising the tailored reactivation movement routines at each phase of the LifeCurve can help you maintain or even regain your abilities and independence.
Joan says:
“I’m much more capable now. Only when I stand up, I can’t go anywhere without my walker… But I go to the toilet on my own and everything. The only thing I don’t do is shower myself… I am mobile now!”
Joan was asked if she thought the experience had helped her. She replied, “No, I think I’ve helped myself more than anything. I’m a very independent person. If I can do it myself, I do it.”
